Stuart's Top Ten Places to Eat Steak!

1: Bobby Van's, Had wonderful meals at both Washington, D.C. locations. Everything was great from start to finish. Filet was perfectly cooked and tender. Onion rings were crispy and sweet. (Sept. 2009)

2: Library Restaurant - Portsmouth, NH- Very nice room and quiet - Food was high quality with large portions - We had the Filet and the center cut sirloin. Both were juicy and perfectly cooked. Hand cut fries were terrific as were the garlic mashed. Marcoroni and cheese was excellent. - Tasty desserts - Garlic bread was a nice touch as well! - Friendly wait staff! (2/14/21)

3: The Steakhouse - Rt 1 - Wells, ME - Steak was perfectly prepared and very tasty. Reasonably priced $29.95 for a 12 ounce filet with all the fixings.
It is truly OUTSTANDING! - Can be a little noisy with so many families but it is a tourist area in the summer.
Arrive early to avoid the lines. Be sure to give it a try when your in the area! (2021)

4: The Palm - (any location) Dined at the L.A. restaurant - Steak was outstanding. Soft & tender - Cut like butta.
Recently ate at the Las Vegas local and had the filet - Most excellent!

5: Max Downtown - Hartford, Ct - Just had the bone in 18 oz filet - Just an amazing piece of tender meat you will ever have! The deserts were out of this world also. Everything was excellent including the service. VERY HIGH PRICES is the only fault. (8/16/2008)

6: Ken's Steakhouse - Natick, MA - Had the sirloin strip and was very tasty - Crisp onion rings - High quality meal at a very reasonable price!

7: Mitchell's - Columbus, Ohio - Everything was excellent - TRY THE LAMB!

8: Dementers Steakhouse - 3612 Lafayette Rd Portsmouth, NH - Nice modern atmosphere - We started off with lolipop lamp chops. Very tasty but a bit too much garlic which we just wiped off. My wife and I both had the large filet (11 oz) Seemed larger. Perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. We had sides of onion rings, mac & cheese and garlic mashed which was enough for four people. Very attentive and friendly wait staff. Overall a very nice evening out. Price for two was $180 including the tip. Great place for that special occasion. (2/14/13)

10: Marco Prime Steak & Seafood - Marco Island, FL - My wife had the sirloin "special" it came with sides. My wife liked it very much. Perfectly cooked and very tender with excellent seasoning.
I had the 8oz filet and also came perfectly cooked. (Medium well) Terrific seasoning and it cut like butter. Had the garlic mashed and was just awesome. Service from Joseph was outstanding as well as the rest if the staff. Typical pricing as you would expect for prime cuts of meat but not outrageous. Well done! (11/2014)

Honorable Mention

Shula's Steakhouse - Naples, FL - The prices are what you would expect to pay for a nice place like this. Even approaching New York!
But that was the only issue here. I have the 12oz filet and it was cooked perfectly. Perhaps the most tender piece of meat I have ever had. Lightly seasoned with a little bit of char just how I like it.
Everyone was happy with their meals. The lava cake was outstanding! Four meals with one dessert and a bottle of wine with tip came to $400.00. Great place for that special occasion. (11/2014)

Abe & Louis - Boston - Stopped in for lunch - WoW - I had the NY Sirloin and it was mouth watering - My wife had the Bone in Filet and that was even better. Try the Vidalia onion rings - A memorable meal.

Gibson's - Chicago - A bit on the noisy side - Large cuts of beef - Get the Chicago Cut - YUMMY!

Frankie & Johnnies - NY & NJ - Steak was a about 20 ounces - Tender & Tasty - Bit overpriced

Ruth's Chris - WORLD'S BEST BAKED POTATO - Loaded with butter so I cannot have it anymore since I am trying to lose weight - Recently ate at the Charlotte, NC location (Jan 2008)
Had the filet and it was a bit on the fatty side.

Don Pepe's - New Jersey - Huge Steaks up to 70+ Ounces WoW!

Park Plaza - Boston - Another great choice!

Carlo's - Yonkers, NY - 20 Ounce Steak with Fries for $15.95 - WHAT A DEAL!

Circus Circus Steak House - Las Vegas - Grill is in the middle of the room Steaks are all on view - Great Value!

Sorry to say but Magnum's has closed - Magnum's - Chicago - Very pretty room - Had the Filet then the sirloin another night - Both excellent! First class wait staff from beginning to end.

Also closed in 2009 - Arthur's Landing - New Jersey (River Road) - BEST Garlic Mashed Potatoes - Limited menu - Excellent view of New York City skyline!

Recent visits in New Hampshire & Maine & The USA

Quinn's on the beach - Marco Island, FL - While staying at the Marriott we ate there several times mostly because they deliver food right to your beech chair.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had burgers, turkey burgers and other things. Food was better than we expected although on the pricey side.
Portions were good size. Drinks were excellent. Good option when staying at the hotel. (11-2014)

Joey's Pizza & Pasta House - Marco Island, FL - Had the thin style pizza. Great sauce and fresh cheese. Cooked perfectly. Beer was ice cold!
Very friendly wait staff and took care of us throughout the night. When on the island don't miss this place. Perfect place for the whole family!

The Counter - Naples, FL - I had a beef burger and it was very flavorful. Had some of my brothers bison burger and it was even better. Fries and rings were outstanding.
The shakes were unbelievable! Great wait staff too! (11/2014)

Aldo's Ristorante Italiano and Bar - Naples, FL - I am used to New York style pizza and this place was outstanding. Pizza had excellent sauce and very fresh cheese.
Crust was thin and crispy just like we asked for. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. Wait staff was helpful and friendly. (11/2014)

Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano - Marco Island, FL - Couldn't wait to try the pizza there. Well it was one of the best that I have ever had. Not large but enough for two for $13.
Thin style with the best sauce and the freshest cheese you could ask for. Seasoned perfectly. I ate the whole pie by myself! My wife had a seafood dish and she loved it!
Serve was excellent and even the I think owner came by at the end to make sure everything was ok. (11/2014)

O'Donoghues Bar & Grill - Marco Island, FL - My wife and I just had a very nice meal there. We both had burgers which were just terrific.
Perfectly cooked and juicy on a nice roll. House made hand cut fires were excellent and not greasy. Mashed potatoes were also very good.
Drinks were extremely strong! Reasonable prices for Marco Island. Service was excellent and checked on us throughout the meal. (11/2014)

The Goat - Hampton Beach, NH - We have been there a few times. The placed is billed as a burger bar. Well they should actually have a burger that is worth going for.
Tasted bland and perhaps frozen. The steak sub has just way too much sauce on it. To cover up the low quality meat? The fries and onion rings were both terrific.
The Mac & Cheese was also very good. They just have to fix the burger! PLEASE! (Summer 2014)

BRGR Bar - Portsmouth, NH - Burger was perfectly cooked and was fresh and juicy. Could have used a bit more seasoning. Fries and rings were both very good.
Prices were reasonable. This is a fairly small place. We were there on a Saturday night and saw people leaving because of the wait. (9/2014)

Brodie's Pub - Down town Peabody, MA - Have always loved this place for one of the best bugers around. This time we had burgers and the steak tips where were excellent. $16 for maybe 8 oz but worth every penny! (12/01/13)

Popoeyes Louisiana Kitchen - Salem, NH - Stopped by for a quick snack. Had a breast of mild and was crispy, juicy and delicious! Biscuit was excellent as always! Service was fast and friendly. (May 2013)

Lexie's Joint - Portsmouth, NH - Eslington St. - I have been to many burger joints across the country. Always searching for the perfect burger palace. Well I think I just found it and right in my backyard. Now this place is not for those with a weak heart. The burgers are perfectly cooked and and juicy. Need lots of napkins. Grease runs down your chin and hands. You can order extra 1/4 lbs patties for just two bucks! I got two. Delicious! They had that old time burger taste that I remember as a child. The fries are hand cut and thin. Some of the best I have ever had. Onion rings were also very good. Thin and lightly breaded with a nice sweet taste. Prices are very cheap even a refill on your soda. I cannot wait to go back to try the shakes. Only down side is that when busy there is limited seating. Many people just get take out. It would not bother me at all to wait for a table. A must go for the true burger fan!

Road House Tavern - Eliot ME Route 286 - Excellent burgers with all the fixings. 1/4 pound patties and you can order as many as you want. Nice thin and crisp fries. Terrific onion rings. Very reasonble prices. Several beer choices. CHECK IT OUT! - (Jan 2013)

Loretta -27 State Street Newburyport, MA - Excellent burgers and perfectly cooked natural cut fries!

Mojo's BBQ Shack - 95 Brewery Ln Portsmouth, NH - Average burgers - Good ribs and exellent fried chicked. Ice cold beer too. Worth going.

Ron Jillians - 845 Lafayette Road Hampton, NH - New location was very clean and inviting. Pizza was excellent. Big upgrade from their last location. (June 2012)
